Intro

The Honda Accord is a mid-size car made by the Japanese company Honda and was introduced in 1976. The sedan version of the Accord has been a top-selling vehicle in many parts of the world. Its biggest rival is the Toyota Camry. The Accord name has been used on many different types of cars, such as coupes, wagons, crossovers, and hatchbacks.

In the United States, the Accord has been very successful and was one of the first Japanese cars to be built in the country. This is because the Accord offers plenty of legroom and headroom for back-seat passengers. The trunk space is large, and the car is comfortable to drive in cities.

The first generation of the Honda Accord was introduced in 1976 as a hatchback and was produced until 1981. Later on, a sedan version was also introduced. During this first generation, the Accord was considered a compact sedan or hatchback. There were two engine choices: a 1.6L and a 1.8L. These engines could be paired with either a 3-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. Standard features included an AM/FM radio, cloth seats, intermittent wipers, and a tachometer.

The second generation was introduced in 1981 and was produced until 1985. It was still available in both hatchback and sedan styles. There were five different engine choices and three different transmission options. Both automatic and manual transmissions were offered for this generation. Notable features included a sunroof, leather seats (in higher trim levels only), power windows, and power locks. Some regions also had headlamp washers.

The third generation was launched in 1985 and continued until 1989. Four body styles were available in this generation: sedan, coupe, hatchback, and shooting brake. There were eight engine options, but they were very similar. These engines could be paired with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. The shooting brake variant, called the AeroDeck, was the highlight of this generation.

The fourth generation was produced from 1989 to 1993. The shooting brake model was discontinued, leaving only three body styles: sedan, coupe, and station wagon. Notable features included power steering, power windows, power locks, a CD player, center armrest, fog lights, and a security system.

The fifth generation was produced from 1993 to 1997. During this time, Honda launched the Acura brand, which sold premium versions of the Accord. Engine and transmission options were similar to those of the third generation. However, Accord sales were not affected by Acura models because Honda cars were always cheaper than Acura cars.

From the sixth to the tenth generation, the Accord has grown larger, with increased length and width. The seventh generation was very popular in Pakistan and worldwide, marking the time when the Accord became well-known. Accord models have consistently received high safety ratings globally. The eighth generation introduced many new features, including airbags, a rearview camera, and alloy wheels.

The current tenth generation is a high-tech vehicle. It includes features like a 6-inch heads-up display, lumbar support, PVB laminated windows, power seats, and the Honda Sensing package for various driver aids. The coupe version has been discontinued, and only the sedan is available.

The Honda Accord has been a popular car in Pakistan. However, in recent years, its numbers have decreased. This is because of new competitors in the market and the fact that the Accord is not made locally. As a result, it is very expensive to buy and maintain. Currently, Pakistan has the tenth generation Honda Accord.

Honda Accord Exterior

The new 2024 Honda Accord features an elegant style and sleek design. The new look is similar to the previous one and keeps the unique Accord feel. The front has a thin, sleek grille paired with LED low-beam headlights and LED fog lights. The power-foldable side mirrors add to the Accord’s beauty, while an electric sunroof gives the car a modern touch.

The rear of the Honda Accord has rear combination lights with LED light bars. The back also includes a shark-fin antenna and an LED high mount stop lamp. The new Honda Accord is also decorated with rear reflectors and dual-outlet exhaust.

Interior

The new 2024 Honda Accord has a comfortable interior with leather-wrapped adjustable seats. The driver’s seat is 8-way electrically adjustable with lumbar support and a memory feature, while the passenger seats are 4-way electrically adjustable.

The rear seat can fold down to increase trunk space. The leather-wrapped steering wheel has tilt and telescope adjustment features. Steering-mounted controls provide access to Bluetooth, audio, and Cruise Control. The gear shift is also wrapped in leather to give an overall feeling of luxury.

The Accord comes with several safety features, including 6 airbags and IsoFix as standard. It also has an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), emergency stop signal, hill start assist, lane watch, and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). These features are complemented by a seatbelt reminder, multi-angle reversing camera, and cold-proof rear door locks.

With push-button start/stop technology, the car offers smart entry, an immobilizer, a security alarm system, and walk-away auto-lock features. The Accord has two driving modes – ECON with ECON assist and Sports mode.

Air conditioning with dual-zone climate control is also a standard feature in the car. Noise-reducing wheels and active noise control minimize both car and outside noise for a quiet ride. One-touch lane indicator and auto up/down power windows are some additional features. The instrument panel shows information from the odometer, trip meter, instant/average fuel economy, range, and average speed.

The 8-inch display with advanced touch technology provides access to multimedia options. It supports radio, MP3/WMA connectivity, smartphone connection, and Bluetooth phone display. The Accord has 6 speakers and 4 USB ports for a great infotainment experience.

Engine

The Honda Accord features a turbocharged 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1498 cc. This engine produces a power output of 134/5600 kW/rpm with a torque of 233/5000 Nm/rpm. The vehicle can reach a top speed of 180 km/h.

Mileage

With a fuel tank capacity of 56 liters, the Accord achieves a fuel efficiency of 12 kilometers per liter in city driving and 14 kilometers per liter on the highway.

Accord Ride & Handling

The new Honda Accord has a strong engine that gives you a good mileage of 12-18 kilometers per liter. It’s easy to control and handles well, even on winding roads at high speeds. The steering responds quickly, making driving easier. Plus, it comes with features to help keep you safe while having fun behind the wheel.

Maintenance

The Honda Accord is a familiar name in the Pakistani market, but since it’s not manufactured locally, its car parts are costly and challenging to locate. This is why maintaining it can be tough.

Competitors

The new Honda Accord faces competition from the Toyota Camry and the Hyundai Sonata in the Pakistani market.

The Toyota Camry has been a long-standing rival of the Accord because of their comparable features. The Camry has an edge over the Accord as it also offers an All-Wheel Drive option. However, the Accord boasts a more spacious interior cabin and trunk, making it more comfortable than the Camry.

The Hyundai Sonata is another formidable competitor for the Honda Accord, sharing similar features. While the Sonata has been gaining popularity, it doesn’t offer as much legroom and boot space as the Accord does.
